Welcome to our online community. On this site we are hoping to post all relevant information and provide a space for members to contribute, communicate, and co-create this gathering.

Gathering theme based on the CJEE call is

Dark Matters: Turning to the Unseen, Unheard, and Untouched in Environmental Education

We envision some activities to connect us with the land and with local Coast Salish understandings of the more-than-human world, and a number of parallel discussions / panels / workshops enabling us to focus on each other’s work.

All things being equal, we are guessing that each paper / research project (co-authored with attending students/colleagues) would receive at least 90 minutes of focused attention from a group of at least 15 of us, and we are hoping for dialogues that stretch our imaginations and our sense of the possible.

The timing of the conference is such that we hope each paper can be worked on, polished, expanded, nuanced, whatever and then officially submitted for review for publication in a special issue (#18) of the Canadian Journal of Environmental Education. This call will serve as the thematic heart of our gathering.  We hope it inspires your thinking.

If we end up with too many articles we have several other possible venues for publication that we are pursuing as well.
